"September in the Rain" is a play by John Godber which has the same characters, Liz and Jack, as appeared in "Happy Jack".  It ranges over the years in which Liz and Jack holidayed in Blackpool, initially alone and then with their children, and concentrates largely on the period of 1950s.  But it also follows the development of their relationship in the marriage up to their final days from early quarrels to acceptance of each others temperaments.
