Welcome to the 2016/17 Season
This is a season of firsts. When asked to chair the Programme Advisory Group for the 2016/17 season I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to show the world just what a challenging group the Lace Market Theatre could really be. I thought of various seasons including British playwrights, women playwrights, American playwrights, but we settled on a season of plays that we had never previously produced. Talk about painting yourself into a corner! Since the group has performed thousands of plays we had to trawl through the extensive archive and make our choices based on our findings there.
Another first for this season is that we are welcoming several new directors to the Lace Market Theatre. All of whom have proved themselves with other drama groups and societies and are bringing a wealth of talent and experience to Halifax Place. Some of the plays have been suggested for many years and are finally to be included in our varied programme that we hope you will enjoy.
