The Big Wardrobe Move has begun. Monday February 11th was the day, and the plan was to move half the theatre Wardrobe from Stoney Street to our new premises on Radford Boulevard. We spent the weekend before finalising preparations and prioritising the order in which things should be moved, but in fact it all went so well that about 80% of our stock is already in its new home. The rest will follow before our Stoney Street lease expires at the end of April. Very many thanks are due to the terrific team from Pickfords. They had the huge task of shifting thousands of costumes and hundreds of boxes. We knew beforehand that actually getting things into the new building might prove tricky because of access restrictions but, thanks to the expertise of the removals people, none of the anticipated problems materialised and we were able to achieve far more than we expected. Currently the task is to establish some semblance of order in Radford Boulevard.
Splitting the move helps us maintain continuity of Wardrobe support for all our remaining productions this season. Costuming for The Cemetery Club, Daisy Pulls It Off and Compleat Female Stage Beauty will be done from Stoney Street, and will then transfer to Radford Boulevard for Shadowlands, The Stepmother, Design for Living and Stepping Out.
And of course we’ll keep everyone posted about Part 2 of the move.
