The Lace Market Theatre is an amatuer theatre staffed and run entirely by members in their free time. You are welcome to join the theatre and take part in its activities, either on stage, backstage, or further behind the scenes. We were awarded The Queen's Award For Voluntary Service in 2022, an award that is equivalent to an MBE. This award is a tremendous achievement and one that all of our volunteers both past and present can be immensely proud of.
If you are interested in joining why not pop down to the theatre on a Friday evening or Saturday lunch time (when we don't have a show on) from September to July? There's always a Duty Officer about who can show you around and answer any questions you may have.
If you're visiting the theatre to see a show and are interested in getting involved do join us for a drink afterwards in the bar and we'll be happy to give a tour then as well. New members are always welcome and there are plenty of ways to get involved - experience is certainly not necessary! When you arrive at the theatre, please go upstairs to the bar area as this is always the best place to find the Duty Officer!
From time to time we hold dedicated Open Evenings where we will meet you in the bar before showing you around the theatre. Dates for future open evenings can be found here.
